"Tell me and I forget. Show me and I remember. Involve me and I understand." - Chinese proverb

Our philosophy and aims underpin everything that we do in our nurseries and provides the framework for our approach to developing the children in our care. We believe every child deserves to feel safe, loved and inspired to learn. Through nurturing care, meaningful relationships and engaging play-based experiences, we help children develop the confidence, curiosity and skills they need to thrive.

Our Philosophy

Children Learn Best Through Play

We believe children are active learners who develop through exploration, discovery and hands-on experiences. Our enriched and stimulating environments are carefully designed to provide child-initiated and child-directed learning opportunities that encourage curiosity, creativity and independence.Children learn through what they experience with all of their senses, which is why sensory exploration is woven throughout our daily activities and learning experiences. By engaging with the world around them, children develop a deeper understanding of concepts and build a lifelong love of learning.

Building Skills for Life

We recognise that children's development is interconnected. Physical development provides the foundation for many future learning skills, including reading, writing and mathematics. Through active play, movement and exploration, children develop the coordination, confidence and cognitive abilities needed for later learning.Language and communication skills develop naturally through meaningful interactions with adults and peers. As children observe, listen and participate in conversations, they expand their vocabulary, strengthen their understanding and become increasingly confident in expressing their thoughts and ideas.

Encouraging Confidence and Independence

As children's skills and self-confidence grow, they become more willing to explore, solve problems and learn from their experiences. We encourage children to make choices and embrace new challenges, helping them develop resilience and a positive attitude towards learning.Independence flourishes when children feel trusted, supported and secure. Through consistent routines, nurturing relationships and opportunities to make decisions for themselves, children gain confidence in their own abilities and become increasingly capable learners.

Every Child is Unique

We take the time to get to know each child as an individual. By understanding their interests, strengths and developmental needs, we can provide personalised learning experiences that help them flourish.

Parents are Partners

We recognise that parents and carers are a child's first and most influential teachers. By building strong partnerships with families, we share successes, celebrate milestones and work together to support every child's learning journey.

Learning Beyond the Classroom

We believe some of the best learning happens outdoors. Children enjoy daily access to outdoor play and regular opportunities to explore their local community, helping them develop confidence, independence and an understanding of the world around them.

Building Strong Foundations

The early years are a crucial time in a child’s development. Through rich learning experiences, positive relationships and nurturing support, we help children develop the social, emotional, physical and communication skills they need for a successful transition to school.

Safe, Nurturing Relationships

Children develop best when they feel safe, valued and listened to. Our small class sizes and low child-to-key-worker ratios enable us to build strong relationships with every child, ensuring they feel secure, supported and understood.

We encourage children to share their ideas, express themselves and contribute to their learning experiences. When children know their thoughts and feelings matter, they develop confidence, self-worth and a deeper understanding of how their actions can positively influence others.

Building Strong Foundations for the Future

The early years lay the foundation for lifelong learning and wellbeing. Through positive relationships, nurturing support and rich learning opportunities, we help children develop the social, emotional, physical and communication skills needed for a successful transition to school and beyond.

Our Aims

We work hard as a team to give your child the very best start to their care and education outside of the family home. We know that leaving your child in the care of others is a big decision and we aim to do everything we can to make this experience as positive as possible for both you and your child. The most important priority for us is that your child is HAPPY at nursery. Our commitment is built around five key promises:

🏡 Home from Home

🚀 Aspirational

❤️ Parent Partnership

😊 Positive Attitudes

You are Loved & Valued

Home from Home

Creating a safe, nurturing environment where every child feels secure, confident and cared for.

Aspirational

Encouraging every child to achieve their very best through learning experiences tailored to their individual needs and stage of development.

Parent Partnership

Working closely with families to ensure children receive consistent support, encouragement and opportunities to succeed.

Positive Attitudes

Promoting kindness, resilience, confidence and a can-do approach through positive role modelling and strong relationships.

Loved and Valued

Ensuring every child knows they are important, respected and genuinely cared for by our nursery family. We will love and nurture your child from the moment they join our nursery. We will encourage them to take part in all of the activities that we offer, so that they are confident to have a go at all of the opportunities that they may encounter, as they move through the nursery and on to their primary education experience.  Your child will know that they are special to us.

Laughter, Learning & Lots of Love

These three simple values underpin every experience we provide and every relationship we build across The Kindergarten Group.
